Предлагаю в этой теме выкладывать инфо о любопытных каверах песен и трибьют альбомых и выступлениях.
В рамках кампании-фестиваля Oxegen 2006 по призыву организации Amnesty International "Не молчи" (Make Some Noise) ряд групп исполнили каверы Джона Леннона. Так, Maximo Park сыграли Isolation, The Charlatans обработали Instant Karma, Feeder выдали кавер Beautiful Boy, а выбором Corinne Bailey Rae была I’m Losing You. Теперь их можно посмотреть/послушать по британскому Инет ресурсу Overdrive канала MTV, доступному пока, увы, только с IP-адресов UK и Ирландии

Мамакабо-2010 определился с составом трибьюта The Beatles
Участники международного музыкального арт-фестиваля МАМАКАБО-2010 споют песни группы The Beatles. Трибьют, посвященный ливерпульской четверке, можно будет услышать в ЭТНОМИРе в рамках вечерней программы в воскресенье, 29 августа.
Посетители сайта www.mamakabo.ru выбрали любимые песни The Beatles, которые войдут в сет-лист трибьюта. Наибольшее число голосов получили хиты «Yesterday», «Hey, Jude», «Let It Be», «Girl», «Michelle».
Песни «битлов» исполнят хедлайнеры МАМАКАБО — Томми Эммануэль, Говард Леви, Евгений Маргулис, Сергей Манукян, «Jukebox Trio» и другие музыканты.
В сет-лист войдут еще не менее 10 произведений «The Beatles». По словам продюсера МАМАКАБО Тимура Ведерникова, один из знаменитых хитов (по информации нашего портала им будет, конечно же, «Hey, Jude»), станет финальным номером всего фестиваля.
Напомним, что билеты на международный музыкальный арт-фестиваль МАМАКАБО можно приобрести по более выгодной цене до 25 августа включительно. С 26 августа начнут действовать новые цены.
В предварительной продаже стоимость билета на один день фестиваля составляет 500 рублей, на все дни (26-29 августа) — 1000 рублей.
В дни фестиваля стоимость входа на один день составит 700 рублей, на все дни — 1500 рублей.

PBS to Air Rain – A Tribute to The Beatles in NYC Metro Area Prior to Broadway
Prior to its Broadway arrival at the Neil Simon Theatre for a limited run this November, Rain – A Tribute to The Beatles will be broadcast Aug. 14 and 15 on PBS WLIW21 in the New York metropolitan area.
WLIW21 will air the 90-minute special that features songs made famous by the iconic British rock group performed live on stage. The exclusive broadcast will also feature interviews with Rain band members. The local PBS air times are 9:30 PM on Aug. 14 and 1:30 PM on Aug. 15.
Rain – A Tribute to The Beatles on Broadway will begin its 11-week engagement Oct. 19 and continue through Jan. 2, 2011, at the Neil Simon Theatre.
In Rain, vocalists, musicians and entertainers Joey Curatolo, Joe Bithorn, Ralph Castelli, Steve Landes and Mark Lewis perform the Beatles' hits live on stage and recreate the numerous iconic looks made famous by the rock band. Curatolo, Bithorn, Castelli and Landes all appeared in the touring productions of Beatlemania.

Beatles tribute band The Fab Four filed suit last week in Las Vegas against its competitor, The Fab 4. The Fab Four has produced and performed tributes to the Beatles since 1996. The lawsuit alleges that The Fab 4 is "essentially identical in sound and appearance" to The Fab Four, referring to the names of the bands and their websites.

Beatles Celebration mostly shines at the Bowl
The Beatles Celebration, a three-day event at the Hollywood Bowl that began Friday night, sort of had the rug pulled out from under it by someone who really had every right to do so. Paul McCartney played the Hollywood Bowl just this past March, and any McCartney show is indeed a Beatles celebration. Heck, Ringo Starr has a show scheduled early next month just a few miles from the Bowl, at the Greek Theatre. Yet, while McCartney’s and Starr’s appearances this year in some way trump this annual star-studded party, the first portion of the Beatles Celebration was still as joyous as it was interesting.

Some American groups have a bigger following overseas and some foreign labels are a bit more adventurous with their releases. Such is the case with the Ventures, the classic 60's instrumental group who are releasing In My Life (Ventures Play Beatles) via EMI Japan on July 7.
The album's fifteen tracks include a combination of previously recorded material, remixes and six new tracks. The new material includes the current version of the group plus member Bob Spalding's son, Ian, on bass and former members John Durrill and Joe Barile.
U.S. distribution appears to be mainly through the Ventures on-line store. According to their site, "The US price will most likely be $28-30, depending on the Dollar/Yen exchange rate. We will try to keep it as low as we can so all fans can enjoy the new CD."

Questions you might have, and I know I did, as Cheap Trick's "Sgt. Pepper Live" returns to Las Vegas at Paris Theatre:
Where's Bun E.? At the hop! (That is a joke ripped off from John Lennon, actually, when he recorded "I'm Losing You" with Cheap Trick.) In fact, the most noticeable change in the production from its previous incarnation at the Las Vegas Hilton is that Bun E. Carlos is not playing drums. This is remarkable because he has been Cheap Trick's drummer for, well, ever. Rick Nielsen's son Daxx played Saturday, and Daxx is a genuine rocker, so no dip in musicianship there. But it begs the question, "Eh?"

Cheap Trick's Robin Zander happy to portray Sgt. Pepper, but not forever
Cheap Trick returns to Las Vegas for its stage tribute to Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band for a total of 20 dates through July 31. The well-received show moves from the Las Vegas Hilton Theater, where it was staged in the fall of 2009. Cheap Trick and a 25-piece orchestra will power the production.

New details emerge about Triumph and Cheap Trick's Beatles show
Secrets of two new Las Vegas spectaculars are slowly leaking out, and of course Vegas DeLuxe has the details first. There’s been extraordinary interest in Triumph headed to the Las Vegas Hilton this fall because magic duo LaRaf say the illusions are new, unique and never seen before. They’re keeping the breakthroughs secret and under tight security.
“It’s not magic as you know it,” I was reliably told. “It’s radically different, and they’ve managed to make the miracle of time travel happen onstage. Some of the other illusion imagery is right inside the actual audience inches away from what happens, so they are enveloped in it.”

Cheap Trick brings their own interpretation of "Sgt. Pepper Live" to Paris Las Vegas for a limited engagement beginning June 11. Geoff Emerick, the renowned engineer of The Beatles' classic album, will supervise the audio production of "Sgt. Pepper Live." The show includes an orchestra and an authentic Indian sitar band.

Американский музыкант собирается перезаписать все песни The Beatles на укулеле
Нью-йоркский музыкант Роджер Гринауолт собирается перезаписать все песни The Beatles на укулеле - гавайской четырехструнной гитаре. Об этом сообщает MusicRadar. Помогать Гринауолту будет музыкант Дэвид Баррат, пишет The Telegraph.
Как сообщили музыканты в своем блоге, они намерены записывать по одной песне The Beatles в неделю. Таким образом, чтобы исполнить все 185 мелодий ливерпульской четверки дуэту понадобится три года. Гринауолт также надеется, что его пригласят выступить с репертуаром The Beatles на церемонии открытия Олимпийских игр в Лондоне в 2012 году. На чем основаны эти надежды, Гринауолт не пояснил.

Roberta Flack almost loses master tapes of Beatles tribute album
Roberta Flack is working on an all-Beatles covers album under the working title Let It Be Roberta. But the world was nearly deprived of hearing it when Flack left her in-progress recordings in the back of an NYC taxicab last month. Flack's cabbie was located and duly returned her missing suitcase full of Beatles covers.

Erykah Badu “Gone Baby, Don’t Be Long”
Erykah Badu psyched many when she launched the era of 2008’s New Amerykah Part One (4th World War) with “lead single” “Honey”, a flirtatious throwback-baked R&B gem that ultimately had little tie-in with the set’s highly-praised psychedelic freak-funk soundscapes and socio-political dialogue (no wonder it ended up being stripped onto the album as a “hidden track”).
The track would, however, make a perfect fit on the High Priestess of Headwraps second New Amerykah installment Return of The Ankh, a sort of yang to World War’s yin that presents Badu making a return trip to the less experimental neo-soul sleekness of her breakthrough Baduizm days with a focus on more traditional matters-of-the-heart themes. Mid-album track “Gone Baby, Don’t Be Long” stands out as one of the better displays of this more streamlined approach to songcrafting.
Based around a seducing sampled loop from Paul McCartney & Wing’s mostly forgotten 1979 dip into slinky blue-eyed-soul territory (their minor Back To The Egg hit, “Arrow Through Me”), “Baby” employs Erykah’s always welcome girlish coo to capture the role of a girl with such “a fiendish crush” for a hustling chap, she barely knows what to do with herself whenever he leaves her side to start his “workday” on the streets.
“I know you got to get your hustle on,” she casts him off (while simultaneously winking to her early-career tune “Other Side of The Game”, which featured the same exact line), but while she’s projecting understanding on the surface, internally she’s bubbling with anxiety for his quick return so they can take their relationship to the next level (“I can’t wait to see how you move/…So gone baby, gone baby, don’t be long”).

Members of Muse say they may cover John Lennon's "Imagine" during their upcoming performance at Glastonbury Festival in June.
In an interview with BBC 6Music during the Music Producers Guild Awards, lead singer Matthew Bellamy said, "Hopefully we'll get Eavis (Michael Eavis, founder of Glastonbury Fayre) onstage. Get him to sing "Imagine" by John Lennon. It's 30 years since he died or something so we are going to try and put all those things together and get the wise farmer to sing some very wise words."

Запорожец переписал хиты «битлов» для симфонического оркестра
Сюита называется «Великий квартет». Самое необычное в этом произведении то, что написано оно для симфонического оркестра.
- Я люблю музыку «The Beatles», я вырос на ней. С детства брат привил мне любовь к этой группе. Поэтому можно сказать, что произведение написано в память о нем, - рассказал «Комсомолке» сам композитор Дмитрий Савенко.
Произведение состоит аж из 40 песен, точнее, их кусочков, и длится 34 минуты. Сейчас его исполняют в Полтавской филармонии, а первая часть уже звучала и в Харьковской. В Запорожье проект пока не исполнялся, но автор надеется, что уже в ближайшее время и мы услышим композицию.

Латвийский диджей замахнулся на Маккартни
Уже в марте этого года латвийские поклонники электронной музыки смогут услышать новый сингл лидера Illegal DJ Team Riga и ведущего шоу Party Service на радио European Hit Radio [Ex] da Bass. В него войдет кавер-версия легендарного хита Пола Маккартни No More Lonely Nights.
Как сообщили NovoNews в пресс-службе радиостанции, на эту композицию уже снят клип.
